Amber & the Moon
Chapter III: Morpheus
to the place of somber beauty...
Chapter III.I
Inspired by Greek mythology and the god of dreams, "Morpheus" revolves around the feeling of not feeling at home. In which dreaming is the only refuge, the only constant in a new, unfamiliar place. There are those restless nights when you just toss and turn and feel somehow uprooted. And it was on a night like that when 'Morpheus' was written.
Lyrics
Wide-eyed, bodies close
Innocence, youth can bruise young hearts
Indigo nights that we’re breathing in
Upstream running creek
Forever runs lonesome

In secrecy
laying in the sheets of your honesty
Your inner silence seeps through
the words you speak

I can’t tell you what’s home
Since I’m gone
We’re running with the wolves
Forever run lonesome

In secrecy
laying in the sheets of your honesty
Your inner silence seeps through
the words you speak

Put me back to sleep, Morpheus
Put him back to sleep, Morpheus
Put me back to sleep, Morpheus
Put him back to sleep, Morpheus

In secrecy
laying in the sheets of your honesty
Your inner silence seeps through
the words you speak

In secrecy
laying in the sheets of your honesty
Your inner silence seeps through
the words you speak
Chapter III.II
'Morpheus' was mostly recorded in the wonderful Portuguese coastal town of Faro in a cozy attic apartment. We escaped the cold winter and enjoyed the warm sun rays of Portugal's pleasant spring.
In the evening hours, we spent our time recording vocals not only for 'Morpheus' but for the whole album.
Our small mobile recording studio had access to this wonderful terrace. There, we ate about 100 Portuguese nata between recording breaks, drank a lot of coffee and discussed the album's arrangements. (The photo shows me with a tea towel on my head.... and yes, we all ended up sunburned.)
This was by far one of my favorite places on this memorable trip:
Here is a little insight into the creation process of 'Morpheus'. I already wrote the guitar arrangement for 'Morpheus' in 2020, and in 2021 I started to further arrange the song together with Jonathan. In this video you can see how cellist Paul puts my little humming melody for the last chorus of the song into practice.
Chapter III.III
We shot the video for Morpheus in an old passenger train from the 1940s - it was quite impressive to film our video in such a unique location.
This was one of my favourite jobs that day: Running around with a hazer machine to create a mysterious scenery :)
(This photo shows not only me getting ready for 10 seconds of "acting" :) But it also portrays our wonderful make up artist Tiziana and our fantastic costume designer Joyce who have been part of this project since the first Amber & the Moon music video. And I'm really thankful for them :) )
Chapter III.IV
Besides the music videos, all the single artworks are also connected to each other. Howling's artwork establishes our protagonist, while her face remains hidden. The drawing of Her Ghost portrays the woman's reflection and in Morpheus she turns to us for the very first time. This whole metamorphosis finally culminates in the album artwork. And I can't wait to reveal it :)

'Morpheus' transports us to the second part of the music video trilogy, in which each video can be understood as a short film, but also as a coherent and self-contained series. The music video finds all the female passengers at a turning point in their lives, where they have all been chosen by a mysterious force. Where the journey will take them is uncertain - but it begins with a dream.
